Setting up a remote connection at your business is necessary if you would like to make use of the SpaGuru web service. The SpaGuru web service will allow you to link your SpaGuru Software to your business website so that you can receive real-time bookings and retail orders from on-site visitors. Prior to setting up a remote connection it is important to ensure that your business has a good internet connection (ADSL), in order to ensure that the remote connection will work effectively.
In order to setup a remote connection, a static IP address is required for your router. There are two methods that you can choose from for setting up a static IP address:
- Contact your service provider (ISP) to arrange a static IP
- Use a service called DYNDNS, by setting up an account on their website: www.DynDNS.com. DynDNS.com is a DNS management tool for your own domain. Please contact us if you need any assistance with this.
Once you have completed either option 1 or 2 you need to setup TCP port forwarding on your router. This ensures that requests are forwarded to the computer where your SpaGuru Server is installed. For standard SpaGuru usage, port 8094 must be opened and forwarded. If you are going to make use of the web service functionality of SpaGuru, then port 8095 must also be opened and forwarded.
Once all the above is setup and working correct, please provide the SpaGuru support team with your static IP or DynDNS address, so that we can assist in ensuring that your laptop or home pc is setup correctly to remotely connect to your SpaGuru server.
